Sylvia Lorraine Bushman, 81, of Emmitsburg, MD, died peacefully on Friday, March 17, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Ministries in Emmitsburg.  Born February 11, 1936 in Thurmont, MD, she was the daughter of the late William and Minerva (Wilhide) Springer.  She was the devoted wife of the late Charles William “Bo” Bushman, Jr., to whom she was married for 55 years.

          Sylvia was a stitcher at the local shoe factory for many years.  She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Emmitsburg and the Emmitsburg Senior Citizens.

          Surviving are granddaughters, Ashley Bushman and boyfriend John Watkins, Sr., Stephanie Bushman and fiancé Edson Aldunate, and Tiffany Bushman and fiancé Byron Vasquez; great-grandchildren, Dominic, Sofia, Blake, and Nayeli; and numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband, Sylvia was predeceased by 5 infant children, Robert, William, Sandra, Susan, and Bonnie Bushman; son, John William Bushman, Sr.; grandson, John William Bushman, Jr.; brothers, Alvin, Edwin, Raymond, Carroll, and Chester Springer; sisters, Ethel Martin, Hilda, Agnes, and Mary Louise Springer, Eva Buhrman, and Lillian Bentz.

          A memorial service to celebrate Sylvia’s life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 313 W. Main St., Emmitsburg, MD, with Pastor Chris Suerdieck officiating.  Inurnment will be private at a later date.  The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 22, at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 210 W. Main St., Emmitsburg, MD.
