Bartley Wharton Obituary

Bartley C. Wharton, 63, of Westminster, Maryland, died on Monday, March 22, 2021 at home.

Born June 23, 1957 in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Sherwood Jack Wharton and Margaret Mary (O’Rourke) Wharton. He was predeceased by a brother, Michael Wharton.

Bartley was a very proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and was honorably discharged as a Corporal. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State fan. He was an over eccentric nerd in all outlets of life, when it comes to comic books especially Marvel and Rock and Roll where he often enriched his beloved son.

Surviving are son, Benjamin H. Wharton of Frederick; sisters, Margaret Love and husband Kenneth of Harrisburg, PA, Maureen Olson and husband Roger of Sykesville, Kathleen Lantz and husband Randy of McVeytown, PA; brother, Kevin Wharton of Lewistown, PA; sister-in-law, Kimberly Wharton of Snellville, GA; and many nieces and nephews.

Private celebration of Bartley’s life will be held by the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bartley’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital (stjude.org).
