Patrick Zimmerman

Leonard Patrick “Pat” Zimmerman, 75, of Fairfield, PA passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Gettysburg Hospital in Gettysburg, PA.  Born December 1, 1942 in Gettysburg, he was the son of the late Leonard and Alberta (Patrick) Zimmerman. He was the devoted husband of Deborah (McNair) Zimmerman, to whom he was married for 48 years.

            Pat was an accountant and worked for various local companies throughout his career.  He was a member of Elias Evangelical Lutheran Church in Emmitsburg, where he served as Treasurer for many years, sang in the choir and played in the bell choir.  He was a former member of Vigilant Hose Company in Emmitsburg and also served as Auditor for Freedom Township.  He enjoyed playing golf, watching NASCAR, and having weekly breakfasts with his buddies.  He was an avid fan of football and the San Francisco 49ers.  Pat loved his family and always had a smile and kind words for others.

            Surviving, in addition to his beloved wife Deborah, are daughter, Kathy Dorton and husband Matt of Rock Hill, SC; sons, Brian Zimmerman and wife Nanette of Virginia Beach, VA and Mark Zimmerman and wife Angela of Palmyra, PA; brother, Bill Zimmerman and wife Janet of Hayesville, NC; grandchildren, Abigail Dorton, and Brice, Lukas, Gabby, Kristopher, and twins, Thomas and Ryan Zimmerman; and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a sister, Edna Zimmerman and a brother, Bob Zimmerman.  

            A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 210 W. Main St., Emmitsburg, MD 21727 with the Rev Jon R. Greenstone officiating.  Burial will be private. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
