John Upton Warner, Jr., 65, of Taneytown died Monday, October 15, 2012 at his home. Born February 14, 1947 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late John Upton and Sylvia Loretta Tillman Warner, Sr. He was the husband of Rebecca Ruth Snyder Warner, his wife of 40 years.

John was a 1965 graduate of Franklin High School in Reisterstown. He was a heavy-equipment/diesel mechanic and worked 25 years for Thomas, Bennett & Hunter Construction in Westminster. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served on the U.S.S. O’Hare. He was a member of American Legion Post 297 in Baltimore. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time with family. John was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

Surviving in addition to his wife are sons James and Carl Warner of Taneytown; sisters, Limia Jo May and husband, Ralph, of WV, and Diana Fay Snyder of Reisterstown.; brother, Harold Warner and wife, Pat, of Owings Mills; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Tammy Elaine Warner.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 19 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD with Deacon Charles E. Barnhart, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Keysville Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
