Bill Wilson Obituary

William Stephen “Bill” Wilson, 84, of Taneytown, MD passed away on August 16, 2018 at Brightview Westminster Ridge in Westminster, MD.  Born October 23, 1933 in Atlanta, GA, he was the son of the late James Dawson and Eunice (Alford) Wilson.  He was the husband of Mary Frances (Finnegan) Wilson, to whom he was married for 44 years.

Bill was a proud veteran of the United States Navy and was a Washington D.C. Firefighter, retiring from the department after serving 17 years and attaining the rank of Captain.  He loved gardening, cleaning, exercising, and traveling with family and friends.  He had many loves in his life, including his children, grand-children, great grand-children, and the family’s home at Smith Mountain Lake, VA…but nothing compared to the love he had for his wife, Mary.

Surviving are his children:  Joanne Mann, Kathy Mahoney, Patti Chalkley, Jeanine Wilson, Bobby Rice, Christine Folkers (Ken); and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by 3 of his children; Jon and Tony Wilson and Tommy Rice; and by 2 brothers, Jimmy and Jack Wilson.  The family wishes to thank the loving staff at Wellspring at Brightview, Westminster Ridge and Carroll Hospice for the wonderful love and support Bill was given at end of his life.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bill’s name may be made to Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD  21157.  The family is being assisted by MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME in Taneytown.
