Gary Allen Megee, 71, of Fairfield, PA passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at his home.  Born July 22, 1946 in Kansas City, MO, he was the son of the late Wilson and Anna Mae (Blakely) Megee.  He was the husband of Shirley Marlene (Stottlemyer) Megee, to whom he was married for 45 years.

          Gary owned and operated Wash Away, Inc. in Thurmont for 30 years.  He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during the Vietnam War aboard submarines.  He enjoyed nature and loved being outdoors.

          Surviving, in addition to his wife Marlene, are son, Jason Megee and wife Heather of Fairfield; step-son, Robert Leatherman of Maryland; sister, Barbara Bronson and husband John of Independence, MO; brother-in-law, Roger Stottlemyer of New Midway; sisters-in-law, Vivian Brashears of Frederick, and Sarah Dodd of  New Midway; niece, Sandy Eyler of Gettysburg; step-daughter-in-law, Lori Leatherman; 6 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and many other nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by step-son, Douglas Leatherman.       

          Services are private.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home in Emmitsburg.  Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
