Annie Hughes Hoff

Annie Hughes Hoff, 87, resident of Finksburg, Maryland, died peacefully on Friday, October 14, 2016 at the Golden Living Center in Westminster.

          Born June 13, 1929 in Finksburg, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Harry C. Hughes and Elva Maude (Harry) Hughes.  She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 64 years, Wilfred S. Hoff, Sr.

          She was a member of the Carroll County Farm Bureau, All Stars, 4-H Club Carroll County, and the Progressive Farmers.  She was a member of St. Benjamin’s Lutheran Church in Westminster.  Annie was a dedicated farmer’s wife that enjoyed gardening, sewing, canning, baking, and doing for others.  No event was complete without her rhubarb crunch and chocolate pudding dessert. She especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  Annie was as selfless and down-to-earth as she could be and was an example to live by.

          Surviving in addition to her husband are children, Deborah Muse and husband Roger “Gil” of Finksburg, Diane Buchman and husband Charles of Taneytown, Wilfred “Steve” Hoff, Jr. and wife Jenny of Seven Valleys, PA, Michael Hoff of Finksburg, and Donna Hoff and husband John Brenner of Taneytown; sisters, Virginia Beamer of Finksburg, Mary Alice Rosenberger of Westminster, Dolly Howard of Hampstead, and Betty Young of Finksburg; brother, Harry “Bud” Hughes of Aspers, PA; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

          She was predeceased by a son, John Paul Hoff in 1956; and by siblings, Henry Hughes, Howard Hughes, Helen Owings, and Hilda Miller.

          A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 91 Willis Street, Westminster with John C. Morrill funeral celebrant.  The family will receive friends on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.  Interment will follow in St. Benjamin’s Lutheran Cemetery in Westminster.
